Celebrating 50 Years of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act
Join us as we celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEIA)—a landmark federal law that transformed education by ensuring students with disabilities have the right to a free and appropriate public education in the least restrictive environment. For five decades, IDEIA has opened doors to learning, belonging, and opportunity for millions of students and their families.
Date: March 23, 2026
Time: 1:00–2:00 PM
Location: Moody School of Education Courtyard
Students from Baylor’s Educational Psychology Department have been hard at work creating original posters responding to the powerful prompt: “Because of IDEIA…” Their work reflects the lasting impact of this legislation on classrooms, communities, and lives.
Hosted in collaboration with the Educational Psychology Department, enjoy refreshments, vote for your favorite student poster, and celebrate the legacy and future of inclusive education. We hope you will join us in honoring this milestone and the progress it represents.
