Improving Faith Inclusion for People with IDD
Join the American Association on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (AAIDD) for a webinar exploring research and practices for strengthening the inclusion and belonging of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities within faith communities.
Kari Maddox, MEd, and Shannon Eshman, MEd, of the Baylor Center for Disability and Flourishing, will share findings from the Center’s Church Stories Project, which explores the experiences and hopes of families of children with disabilities within Christian congregations. Their presentation will draw on findings from the article Faithful Inclusion: The Hopes Held by Parents of Children with Disabilities and consider practices for equipping churches to more fully include children with disabilities and their families.
They will be joined by Aliza Lambert, PhD, who will discuss findings from Enhancing Religious and Spiritual Inclusion of Jewish Youth With Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities and ways religious leaders, clergy and researchers can better support, engage and include Jewish youth with IDD.
